North Iceland, situated in the Gulf of Húnaflói, stands
the gigantic troll Hvítserkur. Legend has it that Hvitsekur
had attempted to attack a neighbouring abbey because of its seemingly
endless bell tolling. Although the troll threw his hammer, he missed
the Church and in fleeing was caught by the rising sun, which instantly
turned him to stone. In this image, the heavens dance above Hvitsekur
while the glow of a small hamlet on the coast warms the clouds behind.
